July Impact Report

Since March, our program has been working through the challenges of adapting our work to an online format. After opening briefly, our Orange County Sanctuary is back to meeting virtually, and our team is facing the uncertainties of COVID. Though new challenges keep being thrown our way, our team is ready to take each forward and backward step necessary to empower the young women we work with.

July Highlights:

  • We have maintained contact with 100% of the women employed in our program throughout the pandemic

  • Working remotely has enabled us to focus on and strengthen the education, health and community aspects of our program

  • The young women are supporting each other beyond what we could have expected

  • When survivors know someone is walking alongside them, they are willing to keep trying

  • It is important to have a community which is responsible and compassionate towards each other.

Women Empowering Women

In India, many of the survivors have made a concerted effort to support each other, calling the ones they know are struggling, visiting them when possible and checking in with anyone that might need the extra care.

A few older girls have been helping newer survivors work through their desire to go back home during this time. Sharing their own experiences with family and how they have managed through similar circumstances. Informing them about how hard it has been for migrants and others to get back to their villages. They are encouraging them to make the safe choice and focus instead on earning and learning till things get better.

The Power of our Hope Community

Our Hope Partner Community consists of our dedicated Monthly Donors who choose to walk alongside survivors every single day. Our Hope Community allows us to:

  • Ensure financial security for our monthly program activities (income, education, health, community) for survivors of trafficking worldwide

  • Strengthens our ability to add resources to prepare each young woman to build her future

  • Expand our outreach to more survivors and young women at-risk of trafficking

  • Increase our partnership longevity to strengthen our community, and bring lasting change.
