February Impact Report
As 2020 begins, we are filled with hope for the limitless potential that the future holds for every young woman.
Mumbai, India
Leaders are blooming in Mumbai, India! Not every girl can reach the doors of the established Sanctuaries, so we developed programs to bring the Sanctuaries to them, just as we first did in 2007. The key to these efforts is that they are entirely run by young women in our program. Once a week, they go out to 5 different after-care homes in Mumbai, providing leadership, guidance, and teach jewelry making skills. Building from their own experiences, they are bringing hope to young women and paving a path for their futures.
Kampala, Uganda
One of the young women is moving on from the Sanctuary, enrolling in adult secondary school so she can attend University next year! We are still in touch with her and are excited to hear of her triumphs as she embarks upon this next journey.
Dedicated volunteer, Janie, traveled to Uganda and had the opportunity to spend a day at the Sanctuary. The girls showed Janie how to make her own bracelet, and she shared pictures of our team in Orange County. She also led a fun team-building games, giving the girls an opportunity to learn more about one another.
Orange County, California
A young woman in the Orange County Sanctuary received straight A's in her first 3 college courses! The young women enrolled in school are doing well, and we are excited to see what the future holds them!
In the Sanctuary, we offer Dale Carnegie professional training courses to provide each woman with empowering lessons, as well as giving her a valuable certification to have on her resume. As we near the one year anniversary of the Sanctuary, we aim to grow the Sanctuary to full capacity, reaching more American women.
Tijuana, Mexico
In Mexico, the women were thrilled to hear that the Night Sky Threader Earrings that they hand-crafted were featured in E! News. A difficult piece to create, they were excited to receive such positive recognition of their hard work.
Our Assistant Director Karen started a community activity in the Sanctuary with Tap Dance Lessons. The participants really enjoyed it and want to prepare their own choreography now. We cannot wait to see what they come up with!
Cebu, Phillipines
Our president and a generous donor will be doing a site visit next month to meet with partners to discuss the launch of our latest Sanctuary this year.
