It started with one Sanctuary in India…

16 years later, International Sanctuary’s work extends around the globe to India, Uganda, and the Philippines.

Our Sanctuaries are trauma-informed workplace communities that provide survivors with healthcare, education, and economic support.

Within our Sanctuaries, women are able to grow confidence and independence to become stronger, wiser women.

We focus on four components to help women embrace their true identity and worth

Income

89% of women have a savings account

Growing a Secure Woman

When survivors enter the work environment, they are treated with dignity and respect. They receive regular paychecks, open a personal bank account, and are taught to save for their future.

Education

90% of women are literate

Growing a Capable Woman

Survivors are provided access to education in areas of reading, language, math, technology, life skills, and personal finance. They work with US-based volunteers to build their English literacy.

Healthcare

Women receive 2 hours of monthly mental healthcare

Growing a Strong Woman

We provide access to ongoing healthcare for survivors, as well as mental health care, counseling, life training skills, and one-on-one mentoring.

Community

91% of women report high self-efficacy

Growing a Confident Woman

Each Sanctuary, in partnership with like-minded organizations, provides a trauma-informed community where survivors can begin to foster relationships, build trust, and safely grow.
